In Bihar, eye care remains out of reach for many families struggling to meet daily needs. Cataract alone accounts for 83% of blindness in the state, while an extremely low cataract surgical coverage rate leaves more than half the population without access to surgery.
Akhand Jyoti responds by placing Vision Centres in the areas affected most by this gap. These centres become the first point of care for communities long denied timely treatment.
People identified through outreach camps are guided here for diagnosis and spectacles, while every post surgery follow up continues at the Vision Centre. What emerges is a dependable, local lifeline that protects sight early and sustains care close to home.
Delivering essential eye care CLOSE TO HOME.
What consistent, LOCAL EYE CARE makes possible over time.
Each Vision Centre serves around eight thousand to ten thousand patients every year, bringing timely eye care closer to people who have waited far too long.
Every year, about five thousand to six thousand spectacles are dispensed, helping people see clearly, work confidently, and live independently.
Each centre supports nearly one thousand free surgeries annually, restoring sight without placing financial strain on families.
Around two thousand to three thousand patients are referred each year to our Centre of Excellence for specialised treatment when needed.
Over a five-year period, a single Vision Centre helps nearly forty surrounding villages progress steadily towards becoming blind free.
Each Vision Centre serves a catchment of nearly two lakh people annually, strengthening long-term access to quality eye care across rural communities.

Supporting a Vision Centre creates lasting access to eye care in rural communities. TRAINED YOUNG WOMEN lead each centre from our Football to Eyeball Girls’ Empowerment programme and become self-sustaining within eighteen to twenty four months.
Your support delivers more than treatment. It creates local livelihoods, keeps children in school, strengthens families, and helps up to forty surrounding villages move steadily. towards a blind free future.

Our Vision Centres will be working as a key proponent to drive Akhand Jyoti's ambitious Vision 2030, which aims to provide 12 MILLION SCREENINGS, 2 MILLION SURGERIES, and EMPOWER 1500 GIRLS.
