Bihar's fight against blindness - community and care
Description Image

RLJ Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital Community Centre

The RLJ Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital Community Centre marks a defining moment in Bihar’s journey towards eliminating avoidable blindness. As part of Akhand Jyoti’s expanding Mastichak campus, this 1,000-bed facility is designed to strengthen the WORLD’S LARGEST STANDALONE RURAL EYE CARE ECOSYSTEM, where free cataract surgery at scale meets advanced subspeciality care, last-mile access, and world-class training.

Built to add capacity for 300,000 additional surgeries every year, this establishment will push Bihar decisively towards the landmark goal of 1 million annual surgeries. At a time when demand already outpaces existing capacity, this centre responds with urgency, scale, and purpose.
